How much is this going to cost?
It depends heavily on whether the other side is going to fight. An uncontested matter costs a fraction of a contested one. We go over the likely range with you at the consultation and tell you plainly which category we think you are in.
How long will it take?
A straightforward uncontested case moves in months. A contested custody or property fight can run considerably longer, because the timeline belongs to the court and the other party as much as to you. We will give you a realistic estimate rather than an optimistic one.
Do I have to go to court?
Not always. A good number of family matters resolve by agreement, and that is usually cheaper, faster and less damaging for everyone involved. When agreement is not possible, we are prepared to try the case.
